Dynes Austin

Former Member, Inactive Director, coach, choreographer, etc, Inactive Tenor

Bio/Profile

Dynes Austin has been involved in music and singing in school and community groups since an early age.  During high school Dynes was heavily involved in a school choir led by a charismatic and somewhat eccentric choir-master. The repertoire was anything that took the directors fancy and included classical, latin motets, Gregorian chant, modern gospel, spirituals, pop and traditional hymns. The emphasis was on the joy of singing and love of harmony of any kind and everyone involved developed a deep appreciation of a wide range of music. Dynes' passion since then has been for the dynamic and heartfelt Gospel style. Having been a member of The Cafe since 1997, Dynes took over the role of Musical Director in 2008.   His love of music and singing is infectious and he and the choir have a passion for sharing that passion for community singing through workshops, performances and social justice oriented community involvement.Dynes vision for The Cafe is to build on the wonderful legacy of previous members and directors, to assist the development of the extraordinary talent in the choir, to explore new music and revive old favourites from The Cafe's vast repertoire.
